About us
Our founder, Tamryn, calls herself an “accidental” accountant because accounting featured absolutely nowhere in her life plan when she was young. It was not even in the small print. And yet, here she is today as the CEO of Pharsyde Accounting (no, that’s not this Pharsyde). Because she did what so many professionals do: she got really good at something, so she opened a business do do that thing “for herself.”
And then she learned very, very fast that there is far more to business than having a client and being good at what you do! Three rounds of burnout gave Tamryn the life-changing mindset shift that working hard gets you nowhere if you are working the wrong way! She sat back and re-evaluated things and then she proceeded to re-arrange everything and re-build her business. Today, she owns or co-owns five businesses – all able to effectively run without her.
Pharsyde Solutions was born because Tamryn wanted to teach other female business owners how to create that same freedom – how to grow businesses in a way that does not suck the life out of them! How to achieve graceful growth and still be the friend, mother, partner and woman that you want to be.
But, our focus isn’t the business, our focus is you. You started this business for a reason. It is your personal needs, dreams, wants, fears and hopes that have led to this moment. So it is YOU that we want to help.

Why do we do this?
My name is Tamryn – founder and CEO of Pharsyde – I fell into accounting by mistake and discovered a love for problem-solving and the “language of business”. I founded my first business, Pharsyde Accounting, in 2007, very young and completely inexperienced. I believed that all I had to do to achieve success was to work really hard. I even opened a second business (Munching Mongoose) with a friend in 2014, thinking that it would be a great idea – two businesses means two incomes and two chances at success, right?
Wrong.
Double the work, double the responsibility, quadruple the stress.
My solution? Just work a little harder. Well that sure didn’t work out well!
Working 12-14 hour days in a job that keeps you bound to a desk inside is not good for your physical or mental health. One day, I sat down at my computer, burst into tears and couldn’t stop crying.
After a little re-evaluation and a lot of soul-searching, I changed the way I do things. I handed over the operations of Munching Mongoose to my wonderful business partner, took a year or two to breathe and then completely changed the way I did everything. I managed to get Pharsyde Accounting to the point that it was an actual business – not my self-employed job. It was a legitimate going concern that could actually run without me!
And then I opened up yet another business (it doesn’t sound like I learn from my mistakes, does it?) but this time it isn’t about working harder.
You see, the more I talked to my clients, colleagues and peers, the more I realised that I am not the only business owner who had set out to build a business and who had ended up in burnout, breakdown and despair.
I also realised that out of all the things we do in Pharsyde Accounting, what I love most, is problem solving. I love to help someone who feels like they have hit an insurmountable wall. It’s a wonderful feeling when we just bring it crashing down!
So now my focus is helping others who – like me – have worked themselves to the bottom of the pit of despair and can’t see the way out.
